Oftentimes, we look at our own lives and say, “Things will be much better when I (fill-in-the-blank)” and “Life will be so awesome after I….” Yes, change is necessary at times, but sometimes we jump ahead and create all sorts of plans without asking, “Is this approved by You Lord?”
We grumble and complain and talk about how we need this n that, or we talk about what we need to do in order for life to run smoother. But what if life is not meant to run smoother for you? What if your course is to stay right where God has you? What if you are doing exactly what God created you to do? Even if your life seems so trivial and insignificant to you… what if your purpose is to be what you are right now? We women take for granted being a wife and mother or just being a Godly example for others. We think that we’d be on a higher level if we had a Master’s or Doctorate’s degree, made more money or owned a big beautiful house. Then we’d really be living. Money is not life. Having a magnificent home is not life. Jesus Christ is LIFE. There is no life outside of Jesus. There is only temporary life and false peace without Him. What people consider to be “living” is actually a dead end, according to the bible. Proverbs 16: 25 says “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
Living a full life does not consist of human achievements and earthly accomplishments. Living a full life consists of doing what the Lord sent you here to do. And you could be at the exact place where God has purposed you to be. You might be married to your spouse just so they can see the light of Jesus Christ and be saved one day. You might be here to raise up Godly children. You might be here to witness to that ONE lost soul at work. Or to that one lost soul in the streets or in prison. How do you know? You might be here to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with that one person who gets on your LAST nerve. How do you know?
Did you know the main reason that God created Samson was just to deliver Israel out from the Philistines? Yet Samson killed animals, people, had women, he got married, was imprisoned…. but his purpose was simply to deliver Israel. Samson didn’t have a clue why he was created, and neither do many of us. In the book of Proverbs chapter 3, verses 5 – 6, the bible tells us to “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” So instead of trying to add more earthly achievements to our list, because we “think” we should be doing more more more, let’s remember to trust the Lord. It may not be time to go to college yet. It might be time to raise your children. It may not be time to get a second job. It may be time to invest in loving your spouse. Or taking care of your elderly parents. It may not be time to relocate to another city. It might be time to minister to the people in the city you are in. Wait on the Lord. You might just be in that situation because the Lord has you right where He wants you.
Side note: If you know for a fact that the Lord is telling you to do something, GET TO IT! This blog is not to stop you from doing what the Lord has called you to do, but it’s a message for those of you who are thinking life is going the wrong direction – because you don’t seem successful (according to people). Trust the Lord and don’t trust in humans!
