Can a liar fix all the lies he ever told? No, but he can start by telling the truth. Can a thief return what was stolen? Only if it’s something tangible. What if it’s food? What if it’s someone’s virginity? What if it’s another person’s life? Can a fornicator repair all of the hearts of their previously sexual partners? No, but they start by keeping themselves pure until marriage. Can an adulterer erase their passionate affairs? Can they wipe away the emotional scars of infidelity? No, not even in a million years. Can a drug abuser undo all of the drugs they put into their system? Maybe, if they quit early enough, for good.
Should a person who has done these wicked things be given another chance? Should they get a “Do-over”? What if they continue to do it with no regret and every intention of doing it again and again? Should they be forgiven?
God is a gracious and forgiving God. But in order to be forgiven, first you must REPENT. The continual cycle of loving darkness rather than light must stop. Everyone sins. But REPENTANCE means you truly feel sorrowful, guilty and are TRULY ready to stop repeating the same sins over and over and over again. It’s a heart issue. Anyone can refrain from physically cheating on their spouse, but if you’re fantasizing about other people or watching pornography, then you’re still sinning within your heart.
Matthew 5:27-29 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
The law doesn’t deal with the heart. Jesus came and dealt with our hearts. But it doesn’t stop there. Yes, repentance is part of it. But you must be born again. Can a man be born again? Can he re-enter his mother’s womb again and be born a second time? Jesus Christ said that you must be born again to enter the kingdom of heaven; meaning you must believe in Jesus, that He died on the cross for your sins and rose on the third day. Jesus Christ died in your place. Now the old man is passed away, behold all things become new…. new born…. born again. In Jesus Christ you are made new. The old you is crucified with Christ. You inherit a new life, new body, new spirit, a new heaven, a new earth, and eternal blessings from the Father. Crowns, mansions, and aaaaaaaall kinds of wonderful stuff He has in store for His children!
John 3:16-19 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Christianity is so much more than weekly church service. It’s more than a list of do’s and don’t do’s. It’s more than mission trips to other countries. It’s a brand new AWESOME life…. that you CANNOT even image…. until you are truly converted in Christ. But without Christ there are no 2nd, 3rd, or 40th chances. There are no do-overs. Those who do not believe in Jesus Christ are condemned already, meaning there destination is not heaven. There are only 2 paths. Narrow is the way that leads to life (Heaven) and FEW will find it. Broad is the way that leads to destruction (Hell) and MANY go in. Choose LIFE. Choose Jesus Christ.
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
